CCRTC Featherpen - February 2023

  09-07-2024

For the faculty members, the time surrounding the Christmas break can in some ways be a challenging one.  Ending off a semester with marking paperwork and exams, and at the same time preparing for the upcoming semester with brand new courses and material, can keep one’s mind quite busy.  As we started our winter semester we opened with devotions, reminding ourselves that every day is a day in which we are to live to the praise and glory of God!  Psalm 90:12 marks this well, “So teach us to number our days that we may get a heart of wisdom.”  To that end, this work is also done with joy!

For the winter semester we were left with a few sessional vacancies.  Some creative course shuffling had to be arranged.  Along with our regular faculty and staff we again welcome Rev. D. Agema to teach the Bible course.

On the administrative side, Jo-anne van Leeuwen is now taking on the role of Office Administrator and Alisha Ravensbergen is working alongside her as Administrative Assistant.  We also have a new Financial Administrator, Michelle Temple.  All are fairly new to these tasks.  As timing had it, CCRTC went through its biennial Ontario Student Assistance Program (OSAP) audit as well as the 2021-2022 financial audit.  With the excellent work done by these ladies, the audits went really well!  Thank you for all your hard work!

Much thanks to our dedicated librarian, Eleanor Boeringa!  We are excited to start our new semester by way of new book displays and information sessions for the students.  Eleanor, your work does not go unnoticed!

February 1 marks the deadline for student admissions for the 2023-2024 school year.  It is exciting to see that a number of individuals have initiated this application process.  It is definitely a blessing to see prospective students interested in teaching God’s covenant children, especially with so many vacancies in our Christian schools.

In regard to our Ontario College of Teachers Accreditation Application, in December we were informed of some changes to the template and were invited to meet to discuss these changes before we submitted any drafts.  At the time of reading this bulletin this meeting has most likely taken place but we will have to wait for an update on it.  In all this we patiently wait for the LORD that He may show us His path in His time.

Let us conclude with Psalm 90:17, “Let the favor of the Lord our God be upon us, and establish the work of our hands upon us; yes, establish the work of our hands!”
