With great thankfulness, the faculty and staff at CCRTC can look forward to the beginning of a new year and reflect on the many blessings the College has enjoyed. Much has happened over the course of the last few months. The College community continues to uphold our custodian, Mrs. Emma Vandervelde, in prayer as she goes through cancer treatments. Faculty and staff are also thankful to note that a new member has accepted a position to join the faculty and assist in the work at the College. Students...

For the faculty members, the time surrounding the Christmas break can in some ways be a challenging one. Ending off a semester with marking paperwork and exams, and at the same time preparing for the upcoming semester with brand new courses and material, can keep one’s mind quite busy. As we started our winter semester we opened with devotions, reminding ourselves that every day is a day in which we are to live to the praise and glory of God! Psalm 90:12 marks this well, &...

Let us hold fast the confession of our hope without wavering, for He who promised is faithful. Hebrews 10:23 The Christmas break allowed us to pause and celebrate the birth of our Saviour, mark the beginning of a new calendar year, and enjoy some time away from our regular tasks. At CCRTC it seemed prudent to go online for the first week of the Winter Semester. We joyfully welcomed back our students and faculty for in-person learning in the second week! Along with our regular full- and part...

Saying “A Dieu”: Go with God! The Schedule of Dates in the 2019-2020 Academic Calendar lists May 22, 2020 as the graduation of the Class of 2020. Instead, at the invitation of the Executive Committee, students, staff, faculty members, and Board representatives found themselves attending the online year-end assembly in front of their favourite screen devices. It was a beautiful program tinged with the bittersweet reality of saying goodbye at a distance. Mr. Richard Feenstra, CCRTC Chairman...

GRADUATION WEEK . . . In one of the previous weekly updates, mention was made of CCRTC’s schedule of dates that has almost run its course for the 2019-2020 academic year. Indeed, this week marks its official end. Together with the “Class of ’20” we had looked forward to the culminating event on May 22 – the graduation. However, this is not to be the case this year. Instead, the building at 410 Crerar Drive is very quiet. No planning for a festive conclusion to three...

TECHNOLOGY AND EDUCATION - A NEW NORMAL? Is there anything of which one can say, “Look! This is something new”? Ecclesiastes 1:10 It is always dangerous to pull a text out of context, but the question posted by the author of Ecclesiastes is an interesting one, especially in these days that are often described as ‘unprecedented’ times. Most people do their work in a very different way than what was normal two months ago. In the news we can often read...

THE END OF "REGULAR" CLASSES When we set the schedule of dates for the academic year 2019-2020 eleven months ago, April 30th was identified as the last day of classes for the Winter Semester. Our teacher-candidates (and faculty) may have looked at the academic calendar during the course of this school year to see how close we were getting to that last day. It is good to have goals – to press on towards the finish line. Teacher-candidates in their final year of teachers college anticipate ...

TIME... It is a time of chaos, a time of order, a time of despair, a time of hope, a time to question the future, a time to reflect, a time to understand change, a time to see beauty, a time to make plans…. Chaos: Whoever thought such a tiny microbe could shut down the world? Order: Everyone (for the most part) is now living in their own country. Despair: When will life return to “normal”? So many believe and trust in worldly ideals and luxuries which ...
